"The whole project stemmed from a pen pal relationship between two sets of girls a half a world apart. It has grown into a wonderful, sustaining friendship and collaboration that has transformed a whole community, and changed us all."

AmazonSmileWe are now an official AmazonSmile Charity! This amazing little site makes it easier to donate to charities that you wish to lend support to. One of the ways that we've managed to stay afloat and continue sending supplies to the Hill Cut Community has been through the iGive button on Amazon. For both of these extensions, you are not charged extra, instead a certain percentage (0.5% to be specific) of your purchase will go to Community Hope Project instead of Amazon. This is truly one of the best and simplest ways to support our projects, and the couple of minutes that you put into installing the little button or using the AmazonSmile link is more than appreciated!

Trip Cancelled Due to Ebola ConcernsDear CHP Supporters,
I've had many lovely notes of concern, so I wanted to send out a quick update to let you all know that we have decided to cancel our annual trip to the Hill Cut Community in Freetown, due to the Ebola Virus outbreak. We were stubbornly sticking to our plan to go up until about last Friday, when the government of Sierra Leone declared a state of emergency, and the Peace Corp announced it would be pulling out all of its volunteers. Since then, the CDC issued a Level 3 Advisory against all non-essential travel to the region, and some airlines have stopped service to and from Freetown. We don't want to endanger ourselves or others, nor terrify our poor friends and families, so we will stay in the states, and try to support our friends and partners in Hill Cut from here. Our Fundrazr campaign continues, as the funding challenges with the school addition and other community initiatives remain, alongside the current ebola threat. For the moment, everyone in the community is safe (though frightened), and we fervently hope they will remain so. We will post updates about the community, and about our local Youth Ambassador project in San Diego, on ourFacebook page and website. Thank you all for your continued support of our projects. Best, Leslie So, who are we?Our first video! Learn about who we are and what we have accomplished in our first community collaboration project in Sierra Leone.
